No execution to give offender time to repent - Samuel Johnson's saying that "The prospect of being hung in the morning concentrates the mind wonderfully." addresses this concern.
Persons incarcerated for life without possibility of parole have no incentive not to commit further crimes. For example, murder or assault of other prisoners or corrections staff. Prisoner control is not perfect, there are escapes, disturbances, riots and other situations where violence can occur.
Witness murder
Without the option of the death penalty, persons who commit crimes where the penalty will be life without possibility of parole have no incentive not to murder every witness.
